Toad Hall Nursery provide quality childcare and early education for children aged 3 months to school age in a friendly home-from-home environment.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Nursery Manager is responsible for supporting the Nursery Manager in managing and leading the setting to ensure that high quality childcare is provided to all. This role profile is not exhaustive and the Assistant Nursery Manager is expected to fulfil any duty as required for the effective running of the setting.
Key Accountabilities:
Early Years
Act as a role model for the Early Years, ensuring that the EYFS is implemented and followed in every aspect of nursery life to an exemplary standard.
Ensure compliance with registration and legislative requirements, including any requirements outlined by Ofsted.
Proactively engage with the children in the setting, taking an active role in their care, learning and development while at the nursery and supporting staff in all aspects of their role.
Ensure that all nursery initiatives are fully embedded into the nursery and participate in working groups across the company.
Adhere to safeguarding requirements.
Support in rooms as required to ensure compliance with the EYFS and meet the needs of the nursery.
Take responsibility for quality and audits across the setting.
People
Full involvement in the recruitment and retention of staff.
Observing best practice and legislative requirements in all areas of employment and equality legislation.
Ensure staff inductions are carried out thoroughly and effectively, with regular review meetings.
Manage employment relations issues such as probation reviews, flexible working, grievances, attendance management and disciplinary issues.
Adhere to the Company’s performance management cycle, ensuring that supervisions and appraisals are used effectively.
Proactively train and develop the staff team in line with their individual needs and the needs of the nursery.
Maintain accurate and compliant personnel files.
Manage requests for time off in line with nursery requirements.
Motivate and lead the staff team to achieve high employee engagement levels and stable retention rates, exploring the reasons for any leavers and addressing any underlying causes.
Ensure that the monthly payroll is processed accurately and efficiently.
Complete staff administration as required.
Carry out return to work meetings following periods of absence.
Coach and mentor the staff team.
Finance
Support the Nursery Manager with the management of the nursery’s budget and occupancy.
Carry out accurate invoicing and resolve queries, escalating as required.
Support the manager with dealing with overdue invoices and bad debt in line with Company policies and procedures.
Health and Safety
Adhere to legislative and Company requirements in relation to health and safety.
Proactively manage risk in the nursery and role model safe working practices.
Marketing
Support and participate fully in achieving occupancy targets and engaging in wider partnership objectives through the effective implementation of marketing strategies for the nursery.
Assist the Nursery Manager in developing and implementing a targeted marketing strategy, which also utilises social media effectively.
Follow-up on enquiries and carry out show rounds to prospective parents with appropriate follow-up.
Building/Utilities Maintenance
Support the Nursery Manager with the safe and appropriate management of the building and utilities, including arranging repairs and maintenance works. Liaising with contractors and proactively identifying any site needs.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
• Full and relevant Early Years qualification
• Full understanding and working knowledge of the Ofsted inspection framework
• Understanding of managing budgets and invoicing
• Leadership experience and managing staff issues
• Understanding and experience of marketing
• Comprehensive understanding of health and safety requirements
• Working knowledge of equal opportunities legislation
• Good understanding of IT through email and Microsoft Office products
• Paediatric first aid
• First Aid at Work
• Satisfactory DBS check
Desirable:
• A higher Early Years qualification, or willing to study
• Management/leadership qualification, or willing to study
